The Innhopp Project

600+ Participants // 7600+ Jumps // 400+ Locations

The Innhopp Project, founded by Norwegian Even Rokne, emerged from the realization that out-landings could be transformed into thrilling experiences. Since the 1990:s, The Innhopp Project has organized dozens of skydiving events with the focus on landing in a place never landed before and often locations connected to the cultural or natural highlights of the region.

At first, the events took place around Norway's mountains and fjords but since 2016 Namibia, Seychelles and Slovenia have been the drop zone for hundreds of participants, doing thousands of jumps in many never-before-jumped locations.

Testimonials

“Innhopps are some of the most powerful types of jumps I’ve ever done - generating deep emotions and connections amongst the people sharing them. It brings full enjoyment of the present moment and acceptance of the fact the we can manage the unknown more than what we all think is possible.”

Marco Arrigo (World Class FS LO, 20k+ jumps, 30+ years in sport)

"There is regular life, there is skydiving and there's...Innhopps!"

— Prof Antonis Louizou (Participant of 5+ innhopp events)

The Adventure

April 10-16, 2024

Chapter 1: The Known

We meet on Wednesday April 10th on Mahè International Airport. From there we go directly to our first jump and land at Fly Seychelles’ new dropzone followed by lunch and presentation of ourselves and the program. We check in at our 9.6 rated accommodation - shared rooms in spacious guesthouses - and later enjoy the welcoming dinner together.

During the next two days we will explore the Inner islands, and do five “warm-up Innhopps” at Praslin, La Digue and Curieuse. The scenery is stunning, with colors like taken out of a dream. The landing areas requires precision. You should be confident in landing within 100m from your landing target on every jump, and able to land within 50m from your target in any wind condition you choose to jump.

We will visit the UNESCO site of Vallèe de Mai, where we will see Coco de Mer, a truly incredible plant only growing on Praslin and Curieuse, we’ll visit the turtle nesting farm and we’ll bicycle through the typical island community at La Digue.

Chapter 2: The Unknown

After three days we are ready for our true goal: The Outer Islands of Seychelles - 300km away from Mahe. That’s the same distance as London-Brussels and NYC-Washington DC.

These rarely visited islands, also part of the Amirantes, are picturesque coral atolls. Whales, rays, swordfish, tuna live in the water. Huge amounts of seabirds live and breed there. Coconut trees grow wild.

We will be the first skydivers ever to jump at Desroches, Marie Louise, Desnoefs, Poivre and Ile du Sud. Some of these islands do not usually allow visitors and some do not have an airstrip - in which case we’ll take a boat back to the nearest island that has one. Parts of this chapter is still unknown as this is being written - as we’ve also never stepped food on most of these islands.

The accommodation for this chapter is in a decommissioned jail on the island of Marie Louise. Built in 2012, it was declared a “special prison”, boasting facilities to house prisoners in a secure and safe setting, as well as a clinic, a training room with library, dining facilities and exercise yard. Already 2017 it closed, due to mistreatment of inmates, and was taken over by the Seychelles Defence Forces who are letting us stay there.

The Team

You, The Innhopp Family.

That The Innhopp Project’s events separate themselves from most skydiving events is already clear. But it’s not just how we skydive.

It’s how we look after each other, how we vulnerably share the strong emotions that innhopps evoke. It’s diversity and inclusion! It’s Even’s narration of the week’s challenges and excitements. It’s group assignments that foster team camaraderie.

It’s The Innhopp Family.
